Terms and Conditions of Hire

The Heatons Centre Community Rooms

The Heatons Centre Community Rooms are managed by Signpost Stockport for Carers, a charity supporting unpaid carers in Stockport. The Heatons Centre provides office space for several voluntary sector organisations as well as rooms for hire to community groups and organisations.

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in The Heatons Centre as your venue. Your support in helping us to provide a safe and secure environment for all is vital and greatly appreciated. We manage the building with limited resources, so we really appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

Centre Facilities

The centre is accessed via a secure door entry system and does not have a permanent reception desk. Hirers are responsible for greeting their visitors and ensuring they have left the premises.

Should you be required to send out directions for promotional purposes the correct address for the centre is as below:

However, the best postcode to use for SAT NAV is SK4 4DQ.

Please ensure that you include your own contact telephone number for anyone you are inviting to the building and bear in mind that the centre cannot legally be used as your business address. 

Terms & Conditions of Hire

  1. Smoking (including the use of E Cigarettes) is not allowed in any part of the building or the grounds. Those who wish to smoke are asked to do so off the premises.
  2. No bolts, nails, pins or similar objects shall be driven into the walls, partitions, fittings or furniture and no posters are to be put up on the walls.
  3. The Hirer is responsible and liable for all damages arising during their rented hours and shall indemnify Signpost Stockport for Carers (the Owners) against all losses, damages and expenses, direct or indirect, arising from this.
  4. The hirer is liable for all spillages on carpets arising during their rented hours arising from this and shall indemnify Signpost Stockport for Carers for expenses arising from this
  5. The Hirer shall be liable for and shall indemnify the Owners against any losses, claims or proceedings which arise in law in respect of personal injury or death of any person, or damages to any property, real or personal, arising directly or indirectly from the renting of rooms at The Heatons Centre.
  6. The Owners accept no liability for damages or losses to the possessions of the Hirer or any persons using the rooms at The Heatons Centre.
  7. The Hirer shall not allow any animals, excepting assistance dogs being used to support their handler, into any rooms at The Heatons Centre.
  8. Bicycles are not permitted inside The Heatons Centre. Bicycle stands are available next to the building.
  9. The Hirer agrees to leave the rooms used at The Heatons Centre, including the kitchens, clean and tidy. Crockery should be washed and replaced in its correct location, failure to clear rooms satisfactorily will incur a charge of £10. Breakages or equipment losses must be reported to the Owners and will need to be paid for.
    10. It will be the responsibility of the Hirer to ensure that upon leaving The Heatons Centre, all lights are switched off, including those in communal areas and toilets and where required radiators are turned down, windows are closed, the alarm is set and the building is secured.
  10. No electrical equipment can be brought into The Heatons Centre without having proof of being tested for electrical safety.
  11. The Heatons Centre is a nut-free building and as such no nuts or products containing nuts in any form should be brought into the building by hirers or attendees of the hirers meetings/groups.
  12. A charge of the full cost of the hire will be made for all cancellations made within less than 48 hours.
  13. Invoices are sent out monthly in arrears. Payment is required on receipt. Ad hoc bookings may be required to pay for the hire in advance.

Health and Safety

Your Responsibilities:
To ensure the health, safety and security of all those using The Heatons Centre facilities please ensure that you are familiar with and, where applicable, your group are aware of the following items:

  1. The building has a secure entry system. All hirers should sign themselves in and out using the visitor management system located at the main ground floor entrance. When visitors first arrive they should be greeted and escorted to the room. Under no circumstances should the door be left on the latch or propped open. It is imperative that no-one allows building access to people that are not known to them personally.
  2. Please ensure that you are familiar with The Heatons Centre Evacuation Procedure (displayed in all rooms) and that your group is aware of the location of Fire Exits. Please note there are NO Fire exits on the first floor. In the event of fire all users of the building are to muster in the Library car park. Fire alarms are tested on one weekday morning each week. An evacuation chair is located on the first floor outside the female toilets for those who may require assistance.
  3. You must take a register for your group – in the event of a fire it will your responsibility to ensure all members of your group have left the building and have been accounted for at the muster station. If you would prefer for your group to use the visitor management system located at the front entry system to sign in and out they can log in as a ‘Visitor’ but please ensure that all attendees do so.
  4. Smoking and the use of E Cigarettes are not permitted in any part of the building or grounds. Those wishing to smoke should leave the premises.
  5. The Heatons Centre is a nut-free building and as such no nuts or products containing nuts in any form should be brought into the building by hirers or attendees of the hirer’s meetings/groups.
  6. Please familiarise yourself with the location of your nearest First Aid box.

Like many organisations, we are experiencing increased demand for our services alongside reduced funding and donations. To enable our team to work as effectively and efficiently as possible, we have taken the difficult decision to close our phone lines from 1pm, Monday – Friday.
